Store in an airtight container on wax paper. Dab fingers in butter and repeat, moving quickly as the marshmallow-cereal sets up quickly.ĭecorate with Red Hot candies, if desired. With buttered fingertips, create a hole in the center to form a wreath. Set about 1/2 cup marshmallow/cereal mixture on wax paper. Pour marshmallow mixture over cornflakes. Once melted and smooth, stir in food coloring. Melt butter and marshmallows in a microwaveable bowl using medium power in 45-second increments, stirring each time. Keep a butter dish handy to butter your fingertips before forming each wreath. (The wreaths are quite gooey and will stick to the paper if not buttered.) Place a couple sheets of wax paper on the counter top and lightly butter them. These will store for up to 3 months.Place cornflakes in a large bowl. You want to be sure to separate the layers with parchment paper. Let them completely dry and then place them in a freezer-safe airtight container. If you are going to layer them on top of one another, be sure to add a piece of parchment paper in between the layers. Once set, add them to an airtight container and store them at room temperature. You want to let these completely set before storing. The mini M&Ms can be replaced with regular sized M&Ms, red hots or any other similar sized red candies.Use as much as needed to reach the desired color.
